Clayton On The Park
Clayton on the Park offers high-rise apartment living in an upscale community. The client requested a fabric canopy to provide shade and aesthetics to a 24 story roof top terrace of the apartment building. Residents can enjoy rooftop relaxing amenities such as a swimming pool, hot tub, lounge and grilling area. The tension structures are also utilized as a Marketing tool as the fabrics can be seen from a major highway ½ mile away. The fabrics are lit at night giving the tension panels 24 hour visibility.
The Tensile Structure was designed by the architect; we manufactured and installed 4 hypar-twisted panels, 65’ x 24’, attached to our aluminum frame with Polyfab Architec 400 Porcelain color HDPE fabric.
The complexity of the project was the installation on the 24 story building rooftop. The installation of the framework had to be mastered through an elevator shaft (285’ straight up, riding on top of the car) with maximum length for any member of 14’. The structures were mounted into a concrete roof and walls. It was designed to support a snow load for year round visibility. A unique feature was the LED multi-color lighting installed to shine on the fabric allowing for multiple colors for evening holiday events and marketing exposure. The “ladder” frame design was necessary to complete the structural requirements.
The client was very pleased with the overall tensile structure’s unique design and how seamless the complex installation process flowed. The bright multi-color light shining on the fabric is stunning and can be seen for miles.
