Case Studies
Located in the south St. Louis County, River City Casino is a recreation of a Missouri riverboat town at the peak
of the steamboat trade on the Mississippi River-historical, yet new.
To create this environment, Lawrence aided in design, then built and installed 80 exterior awnings and 2 interior canopies
utilizing over 5000 feet of aluminum tubing. Upon approval, manufacturing and installation was completed in less than 3 weeks.
There are 17 different frame paint colors, 650 yards of Sunbrella fabric in 18 assorted patterns and colors with 12 unique valance styles.

Copia Urban Winery is located in a historical district in downtown, St. Louis Missouri. The owners wanted a canopy that would provide
weather protection for their guests in a garden style outdoor patio seating area, yet retract in pleasant weather.
We designed the retractable patio canopy, consisting of 3sets of half-barrel canopies covering a total of 3600 square feet
with 2400 square feet open when canopy is electronically retracted. The actual opening or closing takes an incredible short
time of less than 60 seconds.
There are three separate half barrel canopies measuring 20 feet x 60 feet long and each canopy is in three 20 foot sections.
The first two canopy sections retract under the third section. Each side of every canopy includes a water trough guttering
system that empties into a large downspout. Three separate chain driven motor systems are operated independently.
Each 20 foot retractable canopy is carried by 6 custom made trolleys with 6 caster wheels each. A total of 216 neoprene
caster wheels carry the canopies in and out on customized aluminum I Beams.

Favazza's restaurant is located in the Italian district of St. Louis, also
called "The Hill", where they specialize in serving Classic Italian Cuisine.
Favazza's restaurant offers beautiful outdoor seating on their covered
patio and you can enjoy the features of a unique two-tiered fireplace.
Tony & John Favazza wanted the ability to quickly and easily open and
close their patio enclosure panels. Lawrence designed and installed
automatic roll up curtains controlled simply by pushing a remote control
button. Considering the ever changing seasonal weather, the automatic
curtains allow the convenience of opening and closing at your leisure. For
a 75 degree day lunch crowd, the curtain is rolled up and for a 60 degree
evening dinner crowd the sidewall is rolled down. If you currently have a
seasonal enclosure, Lawrence can replace some or all of your panels with
automatic roll up curtains. This is an ideal way to protect your customers
from the elements with fully retractable, high grade quality and durable roll
up curtains. "Turn your 2-Season Room into a 4-Season Room".
"It is the best thing we have ever done for our restaurant! The
Lawrence team did an excellent job… their professionalism, product
quality and service is outstanding. I would highly recommend adding
an enclosure with automatic curtains to your establishment!"

BSI- Palladium For Butler's Pantry
Architect Mark Herman, designed an innovative way to divide and reposition the Banquet Facility with
Petals. The window coverings and projection screens were Rolling Panels. Unique
details include the stretch fabric coverings, electric motors with separate controls,
a roller track and block out fabric. It was very challenging due to the limited
heights in the facility. The Petals were 10 ft overall in height when lowered to
the floor and 5 ft overall height when retracted above. Custom diameter take up
cable hubs were required. For more details call Mark Schopp at 800-527-3840 or email

The client requested Lawrence to design a unique canopy for inside mechanic work on trailers travelling the Ice Road in Alaska.
The challenge was to provide a shelter that was strong enough to block the wind and snow, yet be lightweight enough for 4 people
to install and break down repeatedly. There are no lifts available on site, so assembly is done on the ground or via ladders.
The enormous canopy is 16' 6" tall by 43' wide, made of a mixture of aluminum and steel framing with Weather Max FR fabric.
The project was extremely challenging due to the environmental conditions and the function of the canopy. To add to the complexity,
our Lawrence team had a short 2 weeks to complete the project after the trailer arrived in our facility. The client is extremely
pleased that the canopy is surviving the Ice Road intense elements.

Solar Awning at the Moonrise Hotel
Lawrence partnered with Microgrid Energy to install a solar awning on the Rooftop Terrace Bar at the Moonrise Hotel. The awning provides cover from the
elements while powering the Rooftop Bar. Translucent solar modules were utilized to produce power on both sides of the module, so that reflected light
can be used to generate power also. The translucent solar modules give the awning a cool look and provide light below the awning.
The use of translucent modules is part of a new trend to incorporate solar power as an integrated design element in buildings and structures. The
preferred industry term for this is Building Integrated Photovoltaics or BIPV.
Lawrence Fabric & Metal Structures can help you create lasting impressions. Make a statement with "Solar Awnings."

Located in Hillsboro, Illinois this12,180 square foot addition to the hospital was designed to house the
emergency department and additional space for classrooms.
Our scope included 3 aspects: a glass canopy, interior green mesh panels and a cantilevered, aluminum and acrylic rolling pocket gate.
The custom L-shaped aluminum glass canopy is approximately 56 ft wide x 13 ft. 6 in. projection on the east elevation of the building.
Plus, 19 ft. 6 in. wide x 7 ft. 7 1/2 in. projection on the north elevation of the building. Clear annealed laminated glass supported
by 3 in. x 3 in. aluminum tubing.
Aluminum cantilevered gate is approximately 16 ft. 4 in. wide x 7 ft 9 3/4 in. tall.
The finished product was spectacular and we were proud to have played a part in stepping into new types of products,
construction and designs.

Lawrence Fabric & Metal Structures, Inc. worked with Motif Events to create two 30' x 90' exhibits while
reconfiguring a third 50' x 50' space for the IBIE Expo in Las Vegas. Following Motif's rendering, Lawrence
combined printed, unprinted and backlit tensioned fabric with impressive metal structures.
"We consider Lawrence to be our secret weapon and one of our most valuable production partners.
They are not afraid to take on the unique shapes and forward thinking design structures that we
need to help our clients circumvent the mundane and stand out on the show floor. They help us
bring our ideas to life with great communication, fair pricing and best of class deliverables."
Dave Hibel from Motif Events
"I give Lawrence well deserved credit for a great job on both Peerless and Shick structures.
We set over 400 pieces of fabric structures a year and these were some of the most complex,
yet easiest projects to assemble. Excellent craftsmanship and the drawings were complete and thorough. Thank you Lawrence!"
